Hawaii
We had a great time in Hawaii! Beautiful weather, happy children, ice-cream, lovely green drives, lots of play at the pool. Here’s some snapshots of our time there.
This grassy area was right outside the condo we stayed in. The kids spent lots of time just playing out there, and especially enjoyed seeing baby chicks running around. Apparently a huge storm hit Kauai several years back, and destroyed some property that freed a bunch of chickens. Now they’ve populated all over the island. But this is just a picture of one of MY baby chicks. =)

We spent lots of time at the kiddie pool. The resort had a regular pool, this kiddie pool and a hot tub. We all enjoyed all three! You can’t tell from this picture, but Tim was actually pretty sick here. Unfortunately, he came down with a pretty nasty cold a couple days into the trip. It took him several days to get over it, so he missed a big chunk in the middle of vacation. That was the only bummer. Kind of a big bummer. =( But he was a trooper and still came out and played with the kids at the pool! What a good Dad…

Lovin’ the nice, big, beachy sandbox at the resort. This was right next to the ocean, so they played while I just relaxed in a lawn chair and stared out at the waves. Perfect!

More pool time! Can you see their tattoos? My parents had sent them Valentine presents that we packed and took along. The temporary tattoos were in there, and they loved them, of course!

Showing off his fresh tattoo - don’t mind the bed-head!

Little Miss Sunshine. Isn’t she sweet? This was taken at Spouting Horn, a famous blowhole in Kauai. Jack really enjoyed watching the water spray.

Getting silly in the car after a day of driving around and stopping at different local sites.

This is the best I could get out of Jack. =)

And here’s the one (count ‘em - ONE) picture of me from our vacation. What is wrong with us?! We got back and realized we hadn’t taken any family pictures, or any good pictures with Dan and Linda. We love snapping photos of the kids, but are always forgetting to get the groups shots. Anyway, for all you know, this could have been taken in the driveway this morning. But it wasn’t. =)

All in all, a wonderful trip!

Hawaiian Vacation
This is where we’re headed tomorrow! A 10 day trip to Kauai starts in less than 24 hours. I can’t wait to sit by the pool and gaze out across the ocean while the kids happily play in the kiddie pool. At least, that’s how I hope things go down! First we have to make it out to LAX bright and early tomorrow morning. Our flight leaves around 8:30 which means we’ll be leaving the house about 5, which means we’ll be waking up the kiddos to get them in the car. Never fun. I have milk cups and baggies full of Cheerios and dried fruit all ready to go. But despite the early morning wake-up, I have high hopes. The kids are super excited for the airplane ride, and I am busy today packing lots of goodies to keep them entertained - coloring pages and crayons, mazes (for Jack), snacks, little toys, stickers, all that fun stuff. We are borrowing a portable DVD player from Tim’s sister too. This afternoon the kids and I talked about how their special Tiger and Baby get to ride through the x-ray machine tomorrow, so hopefully there won’t be any shrill cries of distress when they have to give ‘em up. Honestly, I’m not too worried. I think they’re going to do fine.
Here’s a shot of Jack at the beach when we went a couple years ago. He turned two that trip, and I was expecting Abby at the time. No pictures of that enormous belly will be posted here! =)
He had the right idea…
We have all been taking turns being sick this past month, so I am definitely ready for some relaxing. Jack has been battling bronchitis (we think it’s finally gone) and he and Tim both had strep. Somehow, Abby and I avoided it, but this past week I’ve had a sore throat and cold. I babied myself all last week and am feeling better, so hopefully we’ll have a completely healthy family for the trip.Tim’s parents are going as well, so having two more sets of hands will help tremendously. Thanks for coming with us, guys! I know it’s a sacrifice. =) We’re so glad we get to share this fun time with you!

Suggestions?
I’ve been asked to sing two songs for my local Mops group at their annual Tea and Testimony. One song is already set, At the Foot of the Cross by Kathryn Scott, but they’ve left it up to me to determine the second selection. Because of the venue, it needs to fit within the contemporary Christian style, so I’m trying to figure out what to sing. I like things that are lyrical and not too affected, and the whole meeting is geared toward sharing testimonies and the gospel. There are lots of you out there that know my voice, and lots of you that are much more up to date on the current Christian music genre than I am - any suggestions??
